About Me

I came to coaching by way of a 25-year career as an attorney. I started with the Office of the County Counsel in Los Angeles fresh out of law school in 1997. I jumped at the chance of a litigation assignment, which included the adrenaline rush of trial work and the strategic analysis of civil litigation. Eventually, after my kids were born, I expanded my practice to include advice and transactional work, acting as general counsel for several different county departments where I worked with many amazing and inspiring public servants.

The work was interesting and meaningful. And it was also incredibly intense and never-ending. I started having trouble sleeping. I got promoted. I suffered from increasingly troubling auto-immune issues. My doctors told me to dial down the stress, which was not the least bit helpful. And at some point, I started questioning whether the job that I had enjoyed for so long was still the choice I wanted to make for myself.

During my journey to feeling better and exploring other career opportunities, I found tremendous value in coaching. I found it fascinating to think about the distinction between our inner/essential selves (I love being in nature and helping people) and the world we create (I should promote and make lots of money), and how we can work to align these parts to create a life with meaning and joy.  I am excited to help others benefit from the experience.

If you are interested in finding out how coaching can help you, let’s talk. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you!

Warmly,

Lauren

“I’m so grateful I found Lauren. I was stuck for such a long time about making a career change, I had lost hope about finding a new path and was considering taking a job I was significantly overqualified for. Working with Lauren, I have become optimistic about the possibilities for me in the future. Lauren is insightful and challenges my thinking. She is also persistent and adept. When we aren’t making progress in a direction, she suggests a different approach until I am moving again. She’s kind and patient, but not reluctant to give me a push when I need one. And she holds me accountable.”
